For our 3 years anniversary, my boyfriend took me to Mr & Mrs Bund for a lovely dinner. Overall, I felt that the restaurant under-performed in their mains, but oh. my. goodness, their desserts were to die for! Absolutely stunning desserts that made fireworks in our mouths! It was innovative, ingenious and amazing.
We started with Tart Chocco, which is a dark chocolate tart served with a scoop of caramel ice cream. This was heavenly. The chocolate tart shell was just a thin base at the bottom, and the dark ganache was topped with an extremely thin crispy disc. The dark ganache was rich, decadent and light at the same time. How could it be true?! I also loved the fact that the ice cream was served on a chilled spoon, which delayed the melting time of the ice cream. Genius.
This isn’t your usual lemon curd with meringue on sweet pastry base. This is an actual lemon rind stuffed with vanilla cream and a wedge of grapefruit and mandarin. It was served with a stick of sweet pastry. This was absolutely amazing! The whole lemon rind was so sour that it complemented the lightly sweetened cream in the middle. The added wedges of fruits in the middle also highlighted the lemon flavour. Together, with the sweet pastry stick, I was truly in dessert heaven. Hands down, best lemon tart I’ve ever tasted.
I would definitely visit Mr & Mrs Bund again for their desserts!
