Happy February, everyone! How have you all been in the past month? I hope everything has been well and that 2016 has been kind to all of you.
When I decided to go on a blogging-free month, I had such high hopes for myself in terms of the work that I would be doing to this website behind the scenes. There are so many things on the backend that I would have liked to change but it just did not happen. For one, I simply do not have the expertise in making the changes. Html and the relevant knowledge regarding migrating websites and such are not part of my interests. Therefore, it was harder for me to concentrate when I read FAQs and tutorials online. So, nothing much happened.
What was within my skill set though, was to change the About section on this website. I feel that I have grown & therefore the website has also evolved over time and it is only fair that I updated that section. Small steps, small steps.
Anyway, I did think about my plans for petite-patissiere.com, and how I want to proceed from here for 2016 at least and here are my plans.
- Write more “making” posts. I enjoy the process of baking things as well as photographing and writing about my experience. In 2015, I started to write more posts relating to this topic and it was generally very well received by my readers and I felt happier doing that as well. In doing this, I get to do what I enjoy (baking) and also share it with all of you through pictures and my writing.
- Making short videos. Now this is a challenging one. I am not very good at photography, let alone videography but I feel that sometimes, some messages are best conveyed through a video. For example, if I wanted to show “ribbon stage”, then it is probably best shown through a clip rather than a picture because then the requisite “flow” can be seen. I don’t really feel that I know enough to do tutorials as such, but in terms of sharing knowledge, I just thought it might be a good idea. I am not sure how I am able to execute this as yet but it is something that I will definitely work on this year and insert clips here and there where applicable.
- Monthly Patisserie/Cooking book challenge. Let’s just say I own my fair share of cook books and pastry books. I read them, I use recipes here and there but I don’t fully utilise them enough to broaden my skill sets. I haven’t decided if I want to write about cooking on this website as of yet but I will definitely do a monthly pastry book challenge and write about them here!
- Heart-to-Heart. If you’ve been following me, you’ve probably noticed that, once in a while, I write about personal topics. For example, my battle with depression & bipolar disorder and a rather long and blunt post which caused quite a stir. I don’t think anyone understands the purpose of that post but it felt right to me, it still feels right and it is a part of me. Perhaps I was ill at that time, but it doesn’t change my point of view. Maybe I could have handled it better but it’s history now. I guess what I am trying to say is that, whether or not I get readership on such personal posts, it doesn’t matter because at the end of the day, I need an outlet to release some of the tension & my thoughts so this platform is where they go!
Woah that turned out to be quite a wordy post, I hope you guys didn’t mind. There won’t be any major changes to the way I write or what I write about but it is only natural that we grow and I feel that I should inform my readers of my intention 🙂
Thank you for your continuous support and readership. I will be back next Monday with a “proper” post.
Have a great week ahead!
