It’s May Ling here and I go by the online persona of “Petite Patissiere” on this website and on my Instragram.
What is Petite Patissiere?
Being merely 5ft tall, I am very petite in size; in French, patissiere means female pastry chef. Naturally, Petite Patissiere came to my mind when I was thinking of a name.
Why was this website created?
The creation of this website was inspired by my volunteering experiences at the Callebaut Chocolate Academy in Shanghai and subsequently at Savour School in Melbourne. My interest in pastry was sparked and I wanted a platform to share my passion with like minded people.
What do I write about?
I have categorised my website into three main sections: making, learning and tasting.
At the beginning, I wrote almost exclusively on my experiences at different patisseries due to my circumstances at the time. As time went by, I realised that I have more passion in writing about my adventures in the kitchen, making pastries at home.
Occasionally, there are some things about my life, particularly on my battle with depression and bipolar disorder, that I would like to share with my readers. I write about these topics not to get sympathy, but to share my experiences and hopefully help someone out there.
